My Interview: Lou Ferrigno – The Incredible Hulk

It’s not every day I get to sit face-to-face and interview an iconic celebrity!

Check out my interview with Lou Ferrigno while attending my very first Comicpalooza.

You may know this awesome man as the actor, who played the Incredible Hulk on TV in the ’80s. This was created by Stan

Lee’s comic book character, The Incredible Hulk.

Do you want to know what’s Lou Ferrigno keeps on his nightstand and what he does before he goes to bed?

read on…

Today, we can thank this television show for being one of the first Superhero shows that brought a comic book hero into our living rooms.

Lou Ferrigno is definitely an influencer with all the roles he has created for himself:   Educator, Writer, Actor, Certified Trainer, Public Speaker, Businessman, Body Building Champion, Sherrif, Entrepreneur, husband, and father.

As I sat on the luxury patio furniture on the 24th floor of @SkyHouseHouston overlooking a spectacular view of downtown, I was smiling so big with excitement you could probably slide a small banana sideways into my mouth …seriously, I was jolted with enjoyment to be included with some much bigger, popular bloggers and podcaster(s).

QUESTIONS for Lou Ferrigno

TBBB:  What do you usually do to get ready for bed?

LF: I read before I go to sleep…

TBBB:  What is on your night table?

LF:  I am not a hunter, however, I’m fascinated with guns and sometimes I read gun magazines before I go to bed.

My geeked-out moment!  Taking a selfie with Lou Ferrigno!

This was my first time to attend Comicpalooza!

I had no idea what I had gotten myself into when I said, “YES, I would love to attend and blog about my experience at Comicpalooza!”

Thank you @NewCreativeMedia and @Comicpalooza for this adventurous opportunity!

This is how I roll - you know, commit first then figure it out! Life is more exciting for me this way!

The results are always valuable, fun and creative!

Be sure to check out Comicpalooza.  This is Texas’ Largest Comic and Pop Culture Event held annually in Houston, Texas.  The next date is scheduled for 2017, May 12-14.

I met with Mr. Ferrigno and several celebrities for exclusive interviews [Pre-Comicpalooza June 16th] at the beautiful @SkyHouse Houston [24th-floor outdoor view of the city was spectacular. I took this picture right before we sat down for our interview.

Lou Ferrigno in Houston, TX with The Bitchy Business Briefs and Comicpalooza

Hometown:  Brooklyn, New York

Beginnings:  Lou was born in Victoria and Matty Ferrigno. His father was an Italian-American police lieutenant.

Soon after he was born, Lou suffered a series of ear infections and lost 75% of his hearing (though his condition was not diagnosed until he was three years old).

Lou started weight training at age 13, citing bodybuilder and Hercules-star Steve Reeves as one of his role models.

I had to quote him during this interview:

All my life I've competed with my self, quote from Lou Ferrigno

If you think about it, this is who we should all be competing against… ourselves.

His words stuck with me.  I remind myself often of this moment; especially when I am feeling unmotivated to take a chance on a new project.Thank you, Lou.

Claim to Fame:  Because of his original television show in the 80’s, The Incredible Hulk, today this is the largest Superhero franchise in the world!

Next Thing:  During our interview, Lou shared that he is currently a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s department where he puts in 20-30 hours per month working with the Los Angeles County Search and Rescue and Special Victims Bureau.

 A funny story he shared:

A woman who had fainted on a ridge while hiking in the Los Angels hills was rescued via helicopter from Lou Ferrigno. When he picked her up to rescue her, she opened her eyes and said,

“Oh my God! You’re the Incredible Hulk!” …and she fainted again.

End of the story… she was rescued and safely returned to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for further care.

Hard Work:  He is the only person in the world to hold the Title of Mr. Universe [twice in a row 1973 and 1974] from  IFBB (International Federation of Body Builders).

He first accomplished this at the age of 21 and returned the second year to win again at the age of 22.

Entrepreneur|Businessman:  One of his most current and awesome projects is the creation of Ferrigno Fit.

I was so inspired to see how Lou Ferrigno and his daughter, Shanna Ferrigno, CEO | Co-founder of Ferrigno FIT have created a platform that improves lives via health and fitness. It’s no surprise that an endeavor like this would be created from this team!
