We’ve all seen the person who finally ‘makes it’ …
Their success is shared on social media, a podcast interview, or the grand opening of their brick and mortar business! And gobs of people attend their event!
Here is what we don’t see:
The struggles.
The messy progress.
The doubts.
The “I don’t know if I can do this” thoughts
Yeah, we rarely see this…
And we don’t experience their struggles either because we’re simply ‘watching’ on the side lines…
We’re watching all the pretty and positive social media posts.
The ‘shituations’ that occur with entrepreneurs or business owners in our messy progress, fuck-ups, mistakes and failures is not shared because it looks negative or it looks hard or it looks like doom and gloom…
Our society is somewhat conditioned to always want to see the positive in everything…
You know, “Fake it ‘till you make” – – By the way that last sentence is bullshit.
We don’t even know how these entrepreneurs or business owners ‘feel’ – – because we’re not them…
We are simply spectators on the side line watching all their ‘so-called-successes’.
It’s difficult to keep pushing.
It’s hardAF to keep going when we’re ‘stuck’ because it’ll seem like we are frozen, at a dead-end, or at a complete stop and we’re failing behind…
I say…share your messy progress and don’t clean it up!
Let people see the struggles – this actually brings everyone closer together; it inspires other humans.
We’re all struggling over something.
What is the secret sauce to know if you are progressing or failing?
It’s simply the actions you take daily.
Some days will be epic and everything will go as planned…
And some days will be FUBAR [fucked up beyond all repair]
There is no magic pill. There is no magic button to push.
It’s not the glamorous life being self-employed, being an entrepreneur, a consultant, an artist, a writer, a business owner.
The one thing that keeps messy progress ‘included’ is just putting one foot in front of the other; no stopping; no quitting; no little bitches allowed.
This post was not some “head-knowledge” I am sharing with you.
This post is what I’ve experienced many times in my 15 + years as an entrepreneur.
It’s simple, but it’s not easy…. PROGRESS IS MESSY – DON’T CLEAN IT UP
So go punch those insecurities in the face! You got this!
xoxo,
Sharon Lee Zapata
